Orpheus- Son of Apollo and the Calliope Muses.  He played the lyre with amazing perfection and made all things follow him.  He was the husband of Eurydice, but not for very long.  When Eurydice died of a viper bite, he went into the Underworld to get her back.  He failed and was so devastated that he let a band of nymphs come and tear him apart.

Eurydice- Daugther of Apollo.  She was married to Orpheus, but soon after the wedding, she was bit by a viper and killed.  Her husband tried to save her, but he ended up failing in the end.

Hades-  God of the Underworld.  Son of Cronus and Rhea and brother to Zeus and Poseidon.  Hades was touched by the music of Orpheus' lyre, so he gave Orpheus a chance to retain Eurydice, but he failed.

Persephone- God of the harvest.  Daughter of Zeus and Demeter.  Was captured by Hades and taken into the Underworld with him.  She was also touched by the sound of Orpheus' lyre.  She convinced Hades to let Eurydice have a second chance.

Hermes- God of messengers, travelers, herds and thieves. He is also the god's herald. Son of Zeus and Maia the nymph. Guided Eurydice to the Underworld two times.
